day 3-my parents

i pick mom, because i like her more.

dear mom,
you are fantastic, seriously. i know we dont really talk about important things like boys, or my future, or my feelings, or have ever really had a 'mother daughter' talk, we dont talk about anything "important" really, but i like hanging out with you.
we are both funny, and giggly, and silly together; i wish we could be like that more often.
i like your amazing cooking and how you do anything for me.
i like how i can call you seven times in an hour to ask you how to cook something and you dont get annoyed with me.
i like calling you on my walk to my car after school just to say hi.
i appreciate that time a boy broke up with me for the first time and you drove to ogden to bring me a diet coke to cheer me up, because i was slightly devastated.
i am grateful you taught me the importance of working and saving money and didnt just hand out money or give me things when i asked for them, you made me work for them and earn them.
im so lucky you taught me to automatically save half of my money (allowance and pay checks) so i could have mega savings when i grew up.
i like how you taught me how to shop sales and brand names are dumb.
i like playing games and being on your team because we think the same way and always win.
i appreciate the fact that you've worked all my life to support our family since dad doesnt.
i am glad you're so good with computers because i know nothing and can always have you fix my lap top.
i like that you're obsessed with NKOTBSB right now, haha, we are getting tickets next summer.
i also like that we both have a crush on michael buble and you like the ice cube song "west".
thank you for everything you do for me, even though i come home after curfew (why i have a curfew at 22 i'm unsure) and sometimes give you a headache and am moody all the time.
thanks for helping me with school/rent/books.
i love you mom,
randi

day 2: my crush

i had a hard time picking one person, but narrowed it down.

dear crush,
you are cute and i love your new haircut.
i love watching you play and how good you are at it.
I dig that you LOVE recycling as much as me and i appreciate how hippie-earth-loving you are.
i like how you're going to school and planning on traveling.
i wish we'd hang out more besides the times we do, or spend our time doing better things though.
i wish you'd not use me so much; however, i did enjoy this weekend and its my fault for being a dumb girl and letting it happen.
you're cute, and i wish you'd like me like me, not just sort of like me sometimes.
blah.
i know i shouldnt like you, but i cant help but have a little [not so] secret crush on you.

love,
randi

i love hockey

i stole this from mister kyle becci describing hockey &
it gave me goose bumps.

"The cockiest, dirtiest, most irresponsible group of athletes in the world. Will do anything just to be able to tell his teammates a great story in the dressing room. Live the dream until they are 35 then realize they never made it. Ladies love us, guys want to be us, we are the soul of the universe. You lace up the skates, put on the gloves, strap on the helmet, and walk on to the ice and nothing else matters. It doesn't matter that you failed a test, your girl is being a bitch, or that you got a ticket on the way there...your world is absolutely perfect for the next couple hours. Here's to face-offs, goals, assists, saves, overtime, living on the road, cold rinks, early mornings, breakaways, going top cheese, flashing the leather, countless hours of practice, bag skates, puking, thousands of dollars, dangling d-men, end to end rushes, big hits, broken twigs, new skates, packing bombs, dropping the mitts, wheelin' broads, coaches, adding the letter "y" to the end of everyone's last name, the word "fuck", pick up, tape to tape sauce, let downs, miracles and most of all - the game of Hockey. Why? Why do we skate back and forth night after night? Skating so hard we throw up. Skating so hard your heart beat rings in your head, while your lungs are grasping for air. Late nights, early mornings, Friday nights, Saturday evenings, broken bones, torn muscles and deep bruises. We skate through it all. Because we live off our adrenaline, because the game frees your spirit, because the party in the locker room is second to none, because you're invincible once you step on the ice, because one shot can make you smile all night, sniping the twine, backy shelf where momma keeps the peanut butter, the rattling of the boards, the feel of the puck, and skates carving into the ice is a rhythm to live by, because its possible to skate fast enough to leave all your worries behind."

i really love this quote, and i really really love that i understand it all, and relate to it.
the end.
