career hunting

so, as you know, i'm graduating in 16 short days.

i've been applying for any CSI job that i am qualified for, all of which happen to be out of state.
ive received 3 rejection letters, and today got 'the phone call'

let me tell you about the call that changed my destiny

haha, but seriously.

florida called and said out of 150 i am 1 of 40 selected to test for the job; however, i have to take the test IN PERSON april 29.
flights from UT to FL are 600 dollars.
this is just to TEST for the job.
after the test if selected for the narrowed down pool i'd have to fly back for interviews etc.
i NEED/WANT a forensic job more than words can explain.
i love it, and im smart at it, and good at it.
however, i dont know if i can afford to fly to florida, rent a hotel, car etc.

i am so torn right now.
ahhhh

so, if any of you want to donate some "get randi to florida" money, feel free.

cancer kids

so, every day i read the blogs of a few cancer kids, all under the age of 5.
none of whom i know personally, i just follow their journey.
i started at the diagnoses day (first blog in archives) up to their current status.
a lot of them are getting their make-a-wish trips and i am so happy.

if you like reading blogs, i suggest these cancer kids (in favorite order):

workout journal week 2

this week i ran 20.25 miles and did 2.5 hours of weights.
depending on the weather tomorrow (sunday) i may go for an outdoor run.

i didnt quite reach my 6 miles every day, however i DID get six miles two days.
the other days i've been outdoor running which is way more killer than gym running, but i appreciate the nice weather so I'm taking full advantage of it.

food journal/workin it out

so for the past 10 days Ive been keeping a food and workout journal.
I'm not counting calories per say, just becoming more aware of what I'm eating.

i DID have a blog that listed everything i ate for all the days, but didn't want to bore you with it.
however, i do measure out my portions and eat directly out of measuring cups.
in the past 10 days i haven't had a soda or coffee, yay, go me!

last week i did:
3 hours of weights/lifts
20 miles of running (elliptical, treadmill, outdoor running combo).

in general, i try to run 5 miles a day; however, this week I'm bumping it up to 6 miles a day, or trying to at least.

i have an obsession with "Kraft Free Zesty Italian" salad dressing.
in case i haven't raved about it to you in person:
it is only 15 calories for 2 Tbs of salad dressing, which is plenty of dressing for such a little calorie intake. I'm obsessed with it.

eat.pray.love

"Moreover, I have boundary issues with men. Or maybe that's not fair to say. To have issues with boundaries, one must have boundaries in the first place, right? But I disappear into the person I love. I am the permeable membrane. If I love you, you can have everything. You can have my time, my devotion, my ass, my money, my family, my dog, my dog's money, my dog's time-everything. If I love you, I will carry you for all your pain, I will assume for you all your debts. I will protect you from your own insecurities, I will project upon you all sorts of good qualities that you have never actually cultivated in yourself and I will buy Christmas presents for your entire family. I will give you the sun and the rain, and if they are not available, I will give you a sun check and a rain check. I will give you all this and more, until I get so exhausted and depleted that the only way I can recover my energy is by become infatuated with someone else. I do not relay this facts about myself with pride, but this is how its always been. And also, let's be honest-it might be a generous public service for me to leave intimacy alone for a while. When I scan back on my romantic record, it doesn't look so good. It's been one catastrophe after another. How many more different types of men can I keep trying to love, and continue to fail? Think of it this way-if you'd had ten serious traffic accidents in a row, wouldn't they eventually take your drivers license away? Wouldn't you kind of want them to? This much i do know-I'm exhausted by the cumulative consequences of a lifetime of hasty choices and chaotic passion."
