High Life

Tonight the roommates+dates (-wildthing & webbrows) went to Sarah's country club for dinner, and it gave me my first gimps of living the high life aaaand.....
I LOVED IT!
It was so great going and getting whatever we wanted and having someone else pick up the 250 dollar tab! (Thanks papa Clayton for your country club membership)

Let's get real, money and fortune are not likely in my future as a crime scene investigator (seeing that they make less than 20$ an hour) but it was such a treat to go somewhere exclusive and made me feel so great.
I could definitely get used to it!
I am still just living and loving my life so much.

Warning: this may make you jealous of my life

I am loving life!
Which may seem a bit strange, because I have had so much drama this month, but despite all of it I am so content and happy with where I'm at.
Friday I went to the basketball game and to some (lame) decades dance with Sarah and the boys from the hockey team, it was actually pretty fun. Weber won the game, and the dance was free, so we couldn't complain. I feel like most Weber activities are what you make of them. haha

Saturday I had to drive down in a crazy snowy blizzard to work at Gateway, ah, it was scary. After work I hung out with mom for a while, then went to Katie's and played with all my Dub J friends.

I don't think I have laughed that hard in months, it was so fun, and hilarious. We didn't really do anything special, (made a giant cookie and played rock band) but it was a BLAST! Being home and with all my friends reminds me how grateful I am to have real, legitimate friends; not just school friends, but down to earth friends. Don't get me wrong, I am grateful for all of my friends, but there is nothing that can compare to being with my best friend of 21 years, 4 months, and 21 days.
(yes, i did just figure it out)
BFF since the womb? yessss

TOMS

I am SO excited about this post.
Incase you don't know what TOMS shoes are:
TOMS is a company that donates a pair of shoes to someone in a third world country for every pair you purchase for yourself; they match your donations 'one for one'. TOMS has given over 400,000 pairs of shoes to children in need since their start in 2006.
Yesterday I went out on a limb and applied to be an intern over the summer at TOMS shoes in Santa Monica, CA. They only pick ten interns, but i am hoping and praying that I get this wonderful opportunity. I think this is a worthy and loving project and really would love to be a part of it. I know it sounds selfish of me, but please keep this thought in your heart and in your prayers for the next few months, I need all the positive thoughts and support I can get! Don't forget to visit the website and purchase a pair of adorable TOMS for yourself (because it's pretty much like doing service at the same time you shop. Get a pair for you, give a pair to the needy; win-win...win)

MARTIN....Luther King Jr. Weekend

This weekend was SO great for me!
Friday I went to the hockey game with the roomies, which was so much fun because we hadn't gone to a game for quite some time. Weber beat UVU 7-1, or something like that, so it wasn't a super close game, but still really fun. We hung out with the team after, which too had be too long since we'd done. Geez I've missed those boys.
Saturday I had planned on going to Logan, but had a change of plans and ended up going to dinner and to the Jazz game and sitting 14th row (thanks Austin!). I'd never sat so close, it was great being able to see everything (without wearing my glasses) and be so close to all the action. I don't know if I'll be able to go back to sitting upper bowl or on a couch, it was that good!
Sunday was pretty lazy. I worked (booo). Nicole and I made therapeutical lists Sunday and it helped me so much. After work I went to L Buck's house and caught up with her, and all the crazy drama in our lives.
Today I hung out with Martin on Martin Luther King Jr. day (hence the name of my blog) which I thought was very ironic and funny.

Overall this weekend was so great; just what I needed!

Roommate hot tub night

Nothing too exciting has been going on this week, but I'm sticking to my goal to try and blog bi-weekly. It's been a week since my tragic break up with boy, but I'm alive.

Last night the roommates and I went hot tubing, which I am embarrased to say I haven't done with them all year...because I spent all of my time with said boy; but now that I find myself with ample free time, I decided to go. I'm really glad I went, I met so many new people, and it was really fun (untill a ghost from the past showed up, cough cough).

I have found myself branching out a bit more this week, and talking to people I normally would not be interested in. I'm not a snob, I just don't really go out of my way to make new friends.

I took my first chemistry exam today, which is strange because I've only had class seven times, but he planned it so we take a test every seven days. This should make for a stressful semester. Boo.

Well I don't have much more to say, I plan on going to Logan this weekend, perhaps I will have an adventure there!

New year, new blog

I’m a bit skeptical about my “blogging” skills. Never have I attempted to blog, nor have I ever been up on reading others’, but lately I’ve just been in the mood to give it a try, it may have something to do with constantly reading Megan and Jule’s blogs (yes, I am a huge creeper) and having it bring so much simple joy to me. My life has defiantly taken a strange path this week; 2010 was going wonderfully, at least to me, but then things came crashing down, and here I am left to pick up the pieces. It is strange when you feel in total control, but then one thing can make you feel so powerless and vulnerable.

“in my daydreams, in my sleep
infatuation turning into disease
you could cure me, see all you have to do now is please try
give it your best shot and try
all i'm asking for is love
but you never seem to have enough

i've gotta feel you in my bones again
i'm all over you
i'm not over you
i wanna taste you one more time again
i'm all over you
i'm not over you
this life is way too short to get caught up in all this stuff
w
hen i just want you to love me back
why can't you just love me back”

This brings me to putting my new year’s resolution number one and two into full swing:

1. Discover my self-worth and gain more self esteem

2. Become more independent

Luckily I have amazing friends and family who have been there for me, you know who you are and I’m so grateful to have your support.

To continue on the resolution thought process I made eight goals, yes, a bit ambitious, but they are all goals that I felt were very important and if I put them on paper it would make me strive harder to achieve them:

3. Work out 5 hours a week and eat a healthy diet

4. Get a “beach bod” by spring break

5. Take a vacation

6. Make time to volunteer

7. Keep my room clean (easier said than done)

8. Write in my journal once a week

Life is full of surprises, so I hope to make the best of them. Whenever one door closes a different and better opportunity presents itself, despite the fact at the moment it may be hard to accept or come to grips with, especially when this “better” opportunity doesn’t immediately present itself. I believe fully that everything happens for a reason, one person can walk out of your life, but another person is just around the corner. These people help you experience an assortment of feelings in life, discover what you like, and what you’re not so wild about so you never settle for anything less than the best, because you know it’s out there.
