Spring break part 2

Oh my, what a great spring break thus far.

Monday Liz and I drove to St. George and made a little pit stop for gas and went on a wild goose hunt looking for the dinosaur tracks but to no avail, so we took pictures by red rock instead.

We arrived at our hotel and realized it was really nice for the mere 30 dollars a night we paid.

After we got settled in we walked from Stratosphere to Balagio to watch the fountain show, not realizing it was three miles each way. :( Our poor feet killed from our six mile trek so we called it a night pretty early, but not before we went to a Mexican restaurant.

Tuesday we went to my aunt's house and had some breakfast with her and my grandparents (love them) then laid out.

After we laid out we went to the wax museum and took a million pictures (see facebook for all million).

After the wax museum we took the standard "welcome to las vegas" sign pictures, then rode a ride at the stratosphere which takes you over the edge and spins you, yikes.

Tuesday night we went to Freemont St. and watched the light show and walked the street for a while, ate deep fried oreos, then returned to the stratosphere and did a little gambling.

Wednesday we went to breakfast with my grandparents and aunt again, then laid out again.

After that we went to the chapel from the movie the hangover, then to M&M factory and Coke factory. We tasted 16 different coke product around the world, and let's just say peru's was not very delightful.

After our touristy activities we went shopping, because Liz's purse broke so we had to find her a new one. While at the mall the funniest thing happened: We saw a highly intoxicated man walking, then spot someone who was not wearing green (it was St. Patrick's day) and PINCH the stranger and yell "Party foul!" it was hilarious! After a long day of shopping we had foot long hotdogs at Slots of Fun, then went back to Freemont St. where we were surprised to see Bono performing, only to realize it was not real Bono, but a U2 cover band. :( While at the St. Patrick's day block party on Freemont St. I met Chad, my Canadian friend whom I should have shotgun married because he was awesome.

After our St. Patrick's day night we went to MGM for a bit, then drove home and i did a night time drive by photo shoot.
Thursday we just cashed out and headed home. :(

Spring break, part 1

Yay! It's spring break, and I cannot say how happy I am to get a break from school and work, even though some people think i should just work all spring break like a "good daughter" would, cough cough. Ugh, forget that I deserve a break. I have been very overwhelmed with school these days: photo assignments, group projects for CSI, chemistry tests, labs, homework questions, papers, theories quizzes, it never seems to end.

Yesterday I went to Wendover on the fun bus with my sister and her friends (picture), I was a bit of a 7th wheel which was lame, but we managed to have a fun time. I ended up losing some money on penny machines, but won it all back and then some playing blackjack. :) Hello 39 dollars.

Tomorrow I leave for Vegas with my lovely friend Liz, and am so excited. It has been a long time since I've been on a roadtrip and I need the vacation. We're going to stay at Stratosphere and do the rides there which should be interesting seeing that just thinking about the rides is giving me a small panic attack.
Spring break part 2 will be coming shortly, untill then enjoy your snowy Utah, I'm Vegas bound.

Just haven't met you yet

I've broken my heart so many times
i stop keeping track.
talk myself in
i talk myself out
i get all worked up
then i let myself down.

i tried so very hard not to lose it
i came up with a million excuses
i thought i thought of every possibility

and i know someday that it'll all turn out
you'll make me work so we can work to work it out
promise you kid that i'll give so much more than i get
i just haven't met you yet

i might have to wait
i'll never give up
i guess its half timing and the other half luck
where ever you are
whenever it's right
you'll come out of nowhere and into my life

and i know we can be so amazing
and baby your love is gonna change me
and now i can see every single possibility

they say all's fair
and in love and war
but i won't need to fight it
we'll get it right
and we'll be united.

Story of my life.
Love you Michael Buble

photo class part 2

So a few posts ago I mentioned how I'm in two photo classes that take up all my free time, yes? yes.

Anyhow, these are my six pictures I picked for my lighting assignment for my black and white class. Given they look MUCH better in real life, but I thought I'd at least give you a glimpse of them. a picture of a picture doesn't do it justice. (ps, I wrote this blog before i went to class and had our critique, my teacher did not say ONE nice thing about them. ugh, fml)

Last night in crime scene photography we had a gang fight scene with REAL human blood. It was fun, but super chaotic with a million groups running around trying to photograph, document, and sketch the scene. My job was sketching, this is my sketch:

Hi, I'm Randi, people think I am 17 years old

This week my "youthful" looks have been quite a hindrance.
I know years from now I will appreciate them, but right now they're a strange phase for me.
This weekend I got hit on by way too many highschoolers, and yesterday I got i.d.'ed TWICE to get into a 17+ movie. REALLY? Do i really look that young? geeez.
Just for the record, I am 21 years old, thank you very much.

Liz and I decided to do VEGAS for spring break, which is in 11 days, which means I have got to start hitting the gym to look fab for our little adventure. I cannot wait. I've never been to Vegas, so this should be interesting, I am so excited. We will be there March 15-18, if you'll be in the area be sure and let me know. I am going to wendover with Gina the 13th, so this spring break consists of alot of gambling. haha

This week was okay for me. Yesterday was really busy, I was at school for 12 hours straight, took a CJ test, then had to take a chemistry test this morning. Today I had four hours of school and have to go back tonight for a crime scene which is 3 hours. School is taking over every aspect of my life, spring break could not come at a better time!

photo class

I happen to be in two photo classes this semester: digital crime scene photography and black and white film. Black and white film seems to take up a HUGE chunk of my time. Every project we shoot three rolls of 36 pictures, develop our rolls, print six perfect pictures and three contact sheets. Not only do I spend a lot of time in the lab developing and printing, but I spend a lot of time shooting pictures. I do enjoy it, but did I stress the HUGE amount of time I have to spend on this class? The current project we have is called "lighting", so rather than finding interesting subject matter, we have to find interesting lighting situations. I had heard of the technique "painting with light" used in crime scenes at night, so i tried it, here are a few of my results. Peace & love, typical Randi.
